SUMMACARE COMPLIANCE PROGRAM

General Compliance & Fraud, Waste & Abuse Training

Per CMS Compliance Program Guidelines, all SummaCare first tier vendors, delegated entities and employees who have involvement in the administration or delivery of SummaCare’s Parts C and D benefits must receive general compliance and Fraud, Waste and Abuse (FWA) training within 90 days of contracting and annually thereafter. Additional, specialized or refresher training may be provided on issues posing FWA risks based on the individual’s job function. Training may be provided:

  • upon appointment to a new job function;
  • when requirements change;
  • when employees are found to be noncompliant
  • as a corrective action to address a noncompliance issue; and
  • when an employee works in an area implicated in past FWA.

How to Access and Complete General Compliance & Fraud, Waste & Abuse Training

To establish and maintain compliance, SummaCare first tier vendors, delegated entities and employees should complete the training within 90 days of contracting/hire and annually thereafter.

OPTION 1: Complete the required training on CMS' Medicare Learning Network (MLN)

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has modules available online through the Medicare Learning Network (MLN) featuring your required General Compliance and Fraud, Waste and Abuse training and education. For instructions on how to access, complete and submit your required proof of training completion, click here.

OPTION 2: download the required training module

The links below will open PDF files that include the content of the required CMS standardized training modules from the CMS Medicare Learning Network website. This content may be incorporated into your organization’s existing electronic compliance training materials/systems or incorporated into written documents.

How to provide your Organization’s Attestation to Completed Training

Your organization's proof of completed General Compliance and/or Fraud, Waste & Abuse Training must include one of the following:

  1. The Training Certificate (included within the CMS web-based training) completed for EACH of your organization’s applicable employees.

    OR
  2. Alternate documentation (scanned sign in sheets, electronic reports including names and dates of completed training, etc.) showing proof of completed training for EACH of your organization’s applicable employees. To securely upload your organization's proof of training documentation, click on the "Choose File" button below and navigate to your documentation, click “Open” on your selected file then click “Upload” (more than one file may be submitted if needed).
